Raven Hair Solution
Prescription topical
Raven combines minoxidil, finasteride, fluocinolone, tretinoin and vitamin E in a compounded topical formula that brings together ingredients used in hair and scalp care.
Before you choose
- Hair thinning can have more than one contributor, including genetics, hormones, age, nutrition, medications and other health factors.
- The most useful starting point is the pattern and context of the hair change, not a product name.
- Prescription options require appropriate clinical review before treatment is selected.
- Ask how the option fits your pattern of hair change, health history, current medications and longer-term plan.
Treatment Details
Raven combines finasteride, minoxidil, fluocinolone, tretinoin and vitamin E in a compounded topical preparation.
The ingredients have different roles. Here is what each is used for or being studied for:
- Minoxidil — Hair Growth
- Used to support hair growth.
- Finasteride — Hormonal Pathways
- Helps lower DHT (dihydrotestosterone), a hormone that contributes to certain patterns of hair loss.
- Fluocinolone — Scalp Inflammation
- A steroid medicine used for certain inflammatory skin conditions; prolonged use may cause skin thinning.
- Tretinoin — Skin Cell Turnover
- A vitamin A–related ingredient that affects how skin cells renew.
- Vitamin E — Antioxidant
- A nutrient with antioxidant properties; its added benefit for hair regrowth in this blend is not established.
This formula is intended for the scalp. Your prescribing clinician determines whether it is appropriate, provides personal instructions and reviews whether any follow-up is needed.
This formula brings together ingredients used for different scalp and hair concerns, but benefits of the exact five-ingredient combination have not been established through FDA review.
Scalp irritation and skin thinning from prolonged steroid use are possible. Finasteride exposure during pregnancy may harm a developing fetus. Follow your prescriber's application instructions.
