Luminance Brightening Cream
Prescription topical
Luminance combines azelaic acid, hydroquinone, kojic acid and hydrocortisone in a prescription cream for clinician-guided care of dark spots and uneven skin tone.
Before you choose
- Start with the skin concern you want to address rather than choosing a formula by name alone.
- Prescription skin care should be considered with your skin history, current routine, tolerance and medical context in mind.
- A licensed clinician determines whether a prescription option is appropriate for you.
- Bring questions about ingredients, expected use, irritation risk and how the option fits with products you already use.
Treatment Details
Luminance is a compounded prescription cream combining ingredients used or studied for uneven skin tone and dark spots.
Each ingredient has a different role in the formula:
- Azelaic Acid — Tone & Skin Care
- Used in certain treatments for acne, rosacea and pigmentation-related concerns.
- Hydroquinone — Dark Spots
- An ingredient used to reduce excess skin pigmentation, with important limits on prolonged use.
- Kojic Acid — Uneven Skin Tone
- Used or studied in products aimed at uneven skin tone.
- Hydrocortisone — Inflammation
- A steroid that can reduce inflammation but may thin skin with inappropriate prolonged use.
This treatment is intended for the skin. A licensed provider determines whether it is appropriate, where it should be used and what individual instructions or follow-up are needed.
Changes in dark spots and uneven tone depend on what is causing them. Your provider can help assess whether this formula fits your skin and discuss possible irritation or other risks.
Hydroquinone can irritate skin and rarely worsen discoloration with prolonged use; overusing hydrocortisone may thin skin. Ask how long to use this cream and about pregnancy precautions and sun protection.
